MUOV

Our story

Bringing the feeling of the road indoors.

MUOV began with a clear ambition: to build the world’s best indoor bike by recreating the balance, movement and connection of riding outdoors.

The beginning

An inventor’s pursuit of a better ride.

Founder and inventor Alex Caccia started Muoverti in 2013 with a question: how could an indoor bike capture more of what makes riding outdoors feel so natural?

Pedalling was only part of the answer. Outdoors, the rider and bicycle move together. Balance, lean and steering all contribute to the experience. Recreating that relationship became the starting point for MUOV.

Alex had previously founded WaterRower UK, bringing experience in building a business around thoughtfully designed indoor exercise equipment. With MUOV, the ambition was to bring the feeling of outdoor cycling into the home.

The early prototype made that ambition tangible. It began a development journey focused on how the bike should move, how it should respond to the rider, and how those elements could work together.

Development

To recreate the feeling, first understand it.

The feeling of riding a bicycle is familiar. Recreating it indoors is a complex engineering challenge.

MUOV’s development team took that challenge onto the road, collecting riding data at Hillingdon cycle circuit to better understand how the rider and bike move together. Practical testing helped turn a familiar sensation into something the team could examine, develop and refine.

The goal was to bring leaning, steering and pedalling together in a way that made sense to the rider. Each stage of development brought the team back to the same question: how does it feel to ride?

The team

Automotive expertise. Applied to indoor cycling.

Turning an ambitious concept into a bike people could own required another layer of engineering experience. Chris Staunton joined MUOV following a career in automotive engineering, including serving as Director of Design Engineering at Polestar UK and holding engineering roles at McLaren.

Chris also brought a former McLaren colleague, Andy Hibberd, into the project, strengthening the team’s automotive engineering experience.

That experience supported MUOV’s ambition to deliver world-class engineering: taking the original idea through the detailed work needed to create a finished product, with the riding experience at the centre of the brief.

It is an automotive approach to engineering, applied to indoor cycling. McLaren and Polestar are previous employers of members of the team, not partners in the bike.

Then and now

From the first prototype to your next ride.

The original prototype and today’s MUOV look very different. The ambition connecting them remains the same: to make indoor cycling feel more like the riding we love outdoors.

The finished bike brings that ambition into a product designed, engineered and assembled in the United Kingdom. Its movement, fit and finish are all part of the experience.

Our ambition remains to build the world’s best indoor bike. The way to judge that ambition is to get on and ride.

  1. 01

    The original concept

A prototype built in 2013 to test whether a bike that leans and steers could feel like riding outdoors.

  2. 02

    Testing and refinement

Riding data recorded on the road, then used to develop how the bike should move and respond.

  3. 03

    Engineering for production

Automotive engineering experience applied to components, tolerances, testing and assembly.

  4. 04

    Today’s MUOV

A bike built to order in the United Kingdom, with movement, fit and finish specified by the rider.

For the rider

Every detail serves the ride.

Movement

The frame leans and the bars steer, so the rider balances the bike rather than simply pushing the pedals — up to 12° of lean, with steering and lean working together as they do on the road.

How it works

Fit

Three frame sizes cover riders from 152cm to 200cm, with crank length, stem, handlebar width, saddle and pedals specified for the rider before the bike is built.

Full specifications

Finish

The bike is made to be lived with as well as ridden. Four standard finishes are applied to the frame, with bespoke paint available for a one-off build.
